| All my life we have all talked about how wonderful it would be if my grandpa was baptized. Everyone has tried and tried to talk to him about it, and he has endless missionary's talk to him. My grandma has been a wonderful example of a patient and loving wife. She knew that she couldn't make him do it and wanted it to be on his own. She raised her family in the church and never said no to a calling. She has been the relief society president when she had small children and she always did her best. Now that Ryan is in the bishopric I think about her a lot. It makes me realize that she had to sit all alone every single week with all of her kids. I know now that that is very hard. Especially with five kids. But she went faithfully and knew it was important to raise her family in the gospel. She is an amazing women. This year on Fathers day the bishop got up in their ward and made some announcements and announced that Butch was going to be baptized. My grandma had no idea what he was talking about and her jaw just dropped and then she turned to my grandpa and he didn't say anything. (not that they are older, my grandpa goes everywhere with my grandma. They are inseparable, and that means he has been going to church each sunday) So after church they had a party for fathers day and my grandma was still in shock and still afraid of asking my grandpa why they had announced he was going to be baptized. But she talked to my mom and everyone about it. My mom said that she was like a excited, happy, little school girl and was just glowing. It wasn't for a few more days that she finally asked him if he was really going to be baptized and he told her yes. They had set the date and everything. So my Grandpa was to be baptized on July 26th 2014! I can not tell you how excited we all are for my grandpa. It is going to be so exciting and I just can not believe it almost. I am so grateful for him and for whoever helped him take this final step to becoming a member of the church. |
