Not such a great day

My sweet little princess was burnt in a fire the other night.  I was burning up branches and other things around the yard and when it got to dark and cold I took Max and Adison inside the house and gave them a bath.  Ryan got home from work so he helped me finish them up while I went and cut carrots and started dinner.  A few minutes later I heard the front door close and I had a feeling it was Adison.  I asked Ryan if it was and he said it was Brytlee.  I kept on working on dinner but the feeling didn't go away so I asked Ryan if he was sure it was Brytlee.... He said he was pretty sure it was.   So I kept on cooking.  Then the feeling still didn't go away so I yelled "ADISON" and she didn't answer so I asked Ryan to go and see if she was outside.  As soon as I said that we could hear her screaming and crying.  Alexis ran her in and said that she had sat in the fire.  uhhhhhhhhhh.  The fire was pretty much out and all that was left was the hot coals.  The older kids were still outside with the neighbor kids and they were sitting around it to keep warm.  Adison went out and was in shorts and just sat next to Brytlee indian style and right were she sat down there was a few hot coals on the ground.  She jumped ups and stared to scream and the girls laughed at first and thought she was just being silly.

It didn't really look to bad at first.... Ryan ran it under cold water for 10 to 15 min. and she hatted that.  I had called my dad and he told me to put egg whites on it.  We did that for a half an our and when we took it off there was a lot of blisters that started to come up.

This was before the blisters.  But you can see the one on her ankle a little.  The one on the top and the bottom were the worst burns.

I went to the temple the next day and didn't even know how bad it was until I got home and saw this.  It looked so much worse the next day.. I just made my stomach hurt to even look at it.  I had told my parents about it and it made my mom cry.  I told Adison that and she said. "oh, it's ok.  I am tuff."

This is what it looked like day three and I was just sick.  I had not taken her to the doctor yet and didn't know if we were doing what we needed to do for her.  We had been reading a lot about it online and our neighbors had given us the Silver burn cream that we were putting on it.  It just hurts me to look at this perfect little leg and see this.  When I look sad Adison keeps telling me that she is getting better and she is ok.  She keeps telling me that she is tuff.
It is really gross when it is time to change her bandage because it is leaking so much gunk and it is almost like a thick layer of mayo or something.  When you peal of the gauze it takes some of the skin off but I guess that is a good thing.  I guess the yellow skin that is trying to grow is what would form as scar tissue and so we want that to come off.  The stuff that is pink or red is what is good and we want that to stay.

I took her to the doctor and he didn't really sugar coat anything.  He said the top and bottom burn were third degree burns and that they were going to be awful.  He said they would scar and there was nothing we could do about it.  He said all the little ones in the middle are second degree burns and they will scar, but not as bad.  They will be more of a white scar.  He then told me that we didn't have a burn unit or anything very close so I could just do it all myself.  He said that any of the yellow tissue needed to be scrubbed off and anything that wasn't a good pink or red color had to be scrubbed.  by doing that it would help with less scaring.  She is suppose to soak in the tub a few times a day and just scrub it with a cloth after it is soft.  She hated it when I did it but if she does it herself she does great and she does a good job also.  The first time we did it there was so much skin and junk floating around int he tub.  eeeewwwwwww....
It was cute when she got all the dark skin off it really did look a lot better and she got so happy and said, "oh this is going to make Grandma so happy now.  It looks better!"
I have been thinking about this whole thing and how it really was not suppose to happen to her.  I was warned by the spirit that she went outside and I should have followed the promptings a little better.  But it also makes me feel good because it makes me also know that god loves us and he didn't want to see this happen.  He wanted me to go and get her so she didn't get burnt.  He does love us and care about us and he doesn't want to see bad things happen to us.  I am thankful that we have warnings but I guess I need to be better to recognize the spirit and follow what it is telling me.  I am so sad that my baby has to go through all of this and I pray that the scars are not bad and that her legs will still be beautiful and perfect.  But I am also so impressed with what a big girl she has been through all of it.  She is so strong and has been great through all of it.

Beautiful girl

Alexis took this picture on her iPod and I think it looks so cute.  She is such a beautiful girl.  She has been doing so well in school and has been getting A's in each class and doing great on her test.  She seems like she has gotten the hang of math and that is so wonderful.  She is so hard on herself and beats herself down all the time but she is so dang smart and I am so proud of her hard work.

We were playing a game and the girls doggie piled on Dad.  When Lex and lizzy were little they used to play sandwich with us and say that dad was the bread, Lizzy was the cheese and lex was the meat and then I would be the other bread.  They thought it was pretty fun. Poor Brytlee was on the bottom of the pile......

I was able to go to baptisms for the dead with our yw.  It was such a beautiful day and turned out to be a great experience.  After the temple we went to panda express and then Alexis and I had to hurry and get to Alex's baby shower.

I had made this cute diaper cake and a few other things for it.  I am so sad that I never took a picture of it when it was all finished.  I had a bunch of cute hair bows that I made going down the front and on the top of it to dress it up.  After the shower Alexis and I went shopping for a few things that we needed and it was a great day to hang out with her.  It is so crazy how old she has gotten in no time at all.  I swear she was a baby just yesterday.  Ha ha.... I am so happy that I have these fun girls to be my shopping buddy's and friends for life.  I am so lucky to have my family.

Happy Halloween

We had such a fun Halloween.  We started getting ready earlier this year because if felt like we were in such a huge hurry last year.  We started at 1:00 and I thought that would be more than enough time.... but it was still crazy and we were in a hurry.  Brytlee was a  beautiful Lady bug this year.

Elizabeth wanted to be a zombie grandpa.... It was so funny

Her friend was suppose to be a zombie grandma but she changed her mind and went as just a grandma so Lizzy said she was a war vet instead of a zombie.  They were a pretty cute couple.

Alexis was a Zombie Bride. We couldn't figure out what she wanted to be and she was being a little difficult about costumes and that morning I was in the DI and saw this wedding dress that was brand new.  It was only $25 bucks and it had it original tags on it for almost $900 bucks.  She looked very cute in it.

Adison was a very cute little witch.  She had a very hard time deciding what she wanted to be.  She changed her mind a few times a day and then I told her that if she was a witch I would be one also and then we could be twins.  That was what helped her make up her mind.

I loved the puffy skirt under brytlee's costume but she hated it and wouldn't keep it on.....

We went to Kings before our wards trunk or treat and then to a friends house.  She had told me that her neighbor always goes all out each year and that it is fun to see.  It was very fun and he was dressed up as a very spooky zombie and chased the girls back to the car.  All the girls ran screaming but Elizabeth walked up and gave him a hug.  It was funny.

Ryan got home from work right in time to leave for the trunk or treat so he didn't have a choice on his costume.  i made him dress up as the out of work Elvis.  He looked great as usual.

I love to get our Halloween family picture each year.  I hope my kids are never to cool or to old to dress up with us.  I just think it is so much fun.

After the trunk or treat Alexis went with her friend to a haunted house and we went to Ryan's Grandmas house.  Ryan had to go back to work because he had a lot of paper work that had to be done because it was the last day of the month.

I got a little lost getting to grandma's house, but we made it.  He kids ate most of her treats and we stayed and talked for a little while.

Max was a little bumble bee but he would' t keep his hat on.  He was not a fan of dressing up this year and this was the only costume I could get him to wear because it was pretty much a coat.

We went and saw Grandma And Grandpa Harris after that and the kids had fun with the spider and trying to scare the kids that were trick or treating their house.  It was such a fun night and the kids got and ate way to much candy.  I just hope it last a long time instead of being eaten in one day.....

I mustache you a question

This boy loves his blanket.  It is the same blanket that all my kids have used in the crib and he has been the most attached to it for sure.  As soon as you lay him down and put it on him he pulls one side up to his face.  It is so sweet.

He looks so much older with a mustache.  We had these cute tattoo mustaches for halloween and I just wanted to try one out on him.  He thought it was pretty fun.

These two are such great friends.  Max loves playing with Adison and just follows her around wherever she goes and does what ever she is doing.  I love when he is getting after her or wants something because he talks really low and deep and says, "Aaaiiiie, heyyyy"  then he will clap his hands like he really means it.

This little girl is so funny.  The other day Ryan was helping her get breakfast and he was distracted and she had to wait.  Then a few seconds latter she goes, "can't a girl get some cereal around here."  I am not sure where she gets some of the things she does and say's, but she keeps us laughing.  The other morning I was feeding Max some raisin bran and she wanted a bite so I got her a big bite and she looked at it and with disgust said, "uhhh Really mom."  it was so funny the way she did it.

These pictures are funny but you had to see the way this little boy was walking.  He had a soggy diaper and he walked up to me and told me, "Ewwww, stinky, ick, stinky."  He really wanted his bum changed.  He has told me a few times when he has pooped and he will run into his room and lay on the floor and wait for me to change him... He is such a smart little boy, but still seems so little to potty train.... I don't think I am ready for that one yet.

We were at the tire place waiting for our oil to be changed.  They have a bunch of toys there and they were playing good.  I thought it was so cute when Max walked up to me with these little green glasses on.  I wasn't fast enough to get a good picture because they fell off and then he couldn't get them back on the same way.
